Pricing
First thing to remember when using any handyman or trade service is that time really is money so if you can make sure that we have quick easy access to the areas at your property where we need to work then that makes the job cheaper for you.
But most importantly try to make sure you have all the necessary materials for your job ready, don't worry about screws and fixings we'll provide them free and we also carry a large selection of plumbing parts / connectors but if you make sure you already have anything else required then that will save you the cost of paying us to go and purchase any parts, if your unsure what is needed then just ask when you first contact us, if your still not sure let us know and we can probably pick items up on your behalf on our way to you which would be cheaper than us leaving off to get items once we get there. If on any occasion that you have explained the job in hand fully over the phone but we have not brought a required tool we will not charge for the time or journey to get it.
Most tradesmen and handymen will charge a lot more for the first hour of work usually around £40 to £50, this is to cover traveling time and fuel, but we don't think that's a fair way of charging particularly if you happen to live close to the tradesman's address.
So here's what we do:-
We are based in Cumnor and any address we are called to we take the post code for. We then go to a route finder such as www.theaa.com and enter Cumnor as a start point and your post code as the destination, in the left hand column it will note how many miles it is to your address, we then charge £2 a mile for that destination and that covers the journey time and fuel there and back.
So for instance if you live in Botley the charge is only £2 if your in Kennington it's £12 while Witney would cost £20, of course if your lucky enough to live in Cumnor there is no charge at all.
We feel it's a much fairer way of charging instead of charging £50 for 40 minutes work to simply plumb in a new washing machine for you.
We then charge at a rate of £15 an hour inside 8am to 5pm Mon-Fri but after the first hour we charge in half hour intervals of £7.50 per 30 minutes.
So for 4 hours and 20 minutes work in Kennington the total charge would be £79.50 and in that time we could of given your kitchen an entire face lift.
For large jobs that take more than a couple of days we will quote a price for the entire job and that price will not change unless you add more work to the job in which case we will agree a new price with you.
Any materials we purchase on your behalf will be charged at the price we payed for it but we may require payment for expensive items upon delivery of them particularly for larger jobs.
No labour charges are required to be paid for until satisfactory completion of the work, and no VAT to pay.
If for any reason you are not able to give us access to your property within our usual working times of 8am to 5pm Mon-Fri then we can work evenings and weekends at a £20 hourly rate.
For out of hour emergencies we might be available but charge a £50 fee plus £20 per hour although there is no £2 a mile travel charge. There is no emergency charge inside our normal working hours as if we are available we will come immediately if requested anyway.
See our example's page for prices charged for specific jobs.
